About the OwnerMy name is Michael Taylor. I graduated in 1995 from college with a bachelor's degree in Media Communications. In the years that followed I worked with all phases of video and film production, but wanted to focus on a niche that was enjoyable and rewarding. I had spent several years volunteering for the Humane Society. I've always loved animals ever since I was a small child. I viewed each family pet as a member of our family. I enjoy their company, and I seem to have a gift in bonding with them. So often, the cat that doesn't like men or the dog that is afraid of everyone comes right up to me. They seem to trust my intentions and before long are either sitting in my lap or enjoying affection from me. Finally one day something clicked. Why not focus my career on working with animals? Soon I was working for the Humane Society. To learn more about animals, I became a kennel manager for a local veterinary practice. This was a tremendous experience because this large practice dealt with dogs, cats, birds, as well as exotic pets of all kinds. To supplement my income during this time, I discovered pet sitting and worked as a contractor for a local pet sitter. I enjoyed this very much and thought that it would be rewarding to own and operate my own pet sitting business. So I did just that and feel I have found my calling. I am always learning new things about animals, and I'm constantly trying to maintain a level of quality that ensures that I not only keep my faithful clients but also bring in new ones. Now I'm able to incorporate my technical skills in film & video with my passion for animals by providing our new photo and video services for pet owners, so they can see how their pets are doing while they're away! (Contact us for more details). I have also been trained in pet first aid and CPR by the American Red Cross as well as being certified in Alpha-Stim technology for Veterinary Care (If you are unfamiliar with the Alpha-Stim please click on the link available from any page, and read the information). I am currently working on becoming a certified dog trainer, and my goal is to begin offering this service later this year after completing my training (2009). As far as my own pets are concerned, I had an 15 year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Sherlock who passed away in 2006. He was quite the character and his memory continues to amuse and inspire me in my work with pets. And I'm happy to announce 2 new members to my pet family: My sweet Boston Terrier, Olive, who has the most unique personality of any dog I've ever seen, and my rambunctious yet super-affectionate cat Ziggy (he has one green eye and one blue eye!) In helping to accommodate our growing demand I have several assistant sitters on staff, all of which have been with me for over a year or more. They share my passion and strong commitment to excellence in care with animals, and have many references on their behalf as well, so know your pet will be in good hands if you fall into their service area. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about our services.Related Professional Experience and Training:Certification of Completion: Dog Obedience Course, McLennan Community College Certification of Completion: Equine 1st Aid, McLennan Community College Continuing Education Certification of Completion: Certified in Alpha-Stim Technology for Veterinary Care Certification of Completion: Advanced Proficiency in Alpha-Stim Technology Certified in Pet 1st Aid by the American Red Cross Former Kennel Manager, Westgate Pet & Bird Hospital, Austin, TX Former Adoption Counselor, Travis County Humane Society Volunteer at Fuzzy Friends Animal Rescue and Travis County Humane Society Bachelor of Arts, Webster University |
